Why Art?
Art is one of those subjects that is threatened with removal in our schools. Some schools today are questioning the relevancy and value of an independent arts curriculum and many art teachers are being forced to defend their subject. How do you feel about the importance of art as part of the required curriculum? What do you think art does for students?
Using Wikipedia
Wikipedia can be a useful tool if you need a quick answer or definition. However, be suspicious of any information related to contemporary or historical art history. Information like this is often incorrect. Because of this, Wikipedia should not be used to write a paper, but rather as a tool that will link you to better resources on the web and as a way to find the meaning of a word or concept quickly. Try searching a topic of interest to you and post what you find. Talk about if the information you find is true or false.

Creating a blog for the purpose of discussion is a great idea. Doing a discussion this way will allow a more timid student to place his or her opinion on the same level as a more outgoing student.
I think it is awesome that you really want to expose children to art! This way many children that may not have a chance in a different setting will be exposed!
I really like the idea of using your blog as a forum for your students to share their art, and make comments to others. It is just a really creative and efficient use for a blog. Good idea!
I think this is a great way to get kids whol ove browsing the internet to enjoy and view art. Plus, I can just imagine how excited one of your students would be to show their mom or dad their online artwork!
I like the forum idea for sharing your students art. I checked it but found nothing... hopefully you can get some up soon!
This is a great idea for a blog and I hope it goes real well for you!
I think art is critical in a child's education. I think it allows students to explore issues in their lives as well as an additional outlet to express and experiment the ideas and concepts they have learned in other classes.
I think blogs are great ways for students to communicate their opinions. This is a great way to include the uses of technology in the classroom.
jenny, you win the prize for the prettiest blog thus far. but wait until i figure out how to change background and color. clearly, you are passionate about art and children and the blog would be great to share personal expression. my son is type 1 as well and is starting on the pump next month. not really sure if that relates to art, but it does with children!
Using your blog for as a place for students to discuss and share their art is great idea.
